Marquetry
This started for me because of a desire to screen a fire place that was rarely used and so a kit of parts (design sheet and veneers) was purchased, and for a first off attempt a reasonable fire screen resulted. This, some 45 years later, still adorns the wall of one of my family members. Having made a few others, mostly to my own design, that have been given to friends I still have four examples on our walls. Three, "George", "Harry" and the "Old Curiosity Shop" are made from commercial designs*
The fourth was as the result of receiving a Christmas card that I felt could be the basis of a design to complement the "Old Curiosity Shop" and so I set about producing my own version of this.
